Thanksgiving basket

As we celebrate Thanksgiving and the upcoming Holiday Season, we at The Healing Center reflect on 2009 and all of our blessings. We are thankful for so much – our wonderful volunteers, community partners, and dedicated staff that make The Healing Center such a special place.

We are especially thankful to our supporters and donors whose generosity continues to inspire us. Your donations enable The Healing Center to provide most of our services free of charge and never turn away any child, teen, adult, or family. While we are so thankful for the success of our 2009 foundation, corporate and special event support, it is individual donations that we rely on most to provide our critical and often life-saving services.

If you have already contributed to our Annual Appeal, May Day Walk, or “Starry Night” Auction, we thank you so much again for your support. If you have yet to make a contribution or are able to consider a gift this Thanksgiving or Holiday Season, your support will make a difference in the lives of those of who have had a loved one die.  We welcome gifts in memory or in honor of family members and friends.

Thank you again for your caring generosity and support.  Everyone at The Healing Center wishes you and your family a blessed Thanksgiving and Holiday Season.

Take care,

Kath McCormack
Executive Director

About The Healing Center

The Healing Center is a grief-support community for adults, children and families. People come to us with a variety of losses, including the death of a partner, parent, sibling, child or infant. Our community offers a unique, long-term, multi-faceted approach to grief support, combining structured therapy sessions with informal events and social networks.

The mission of The Healing Center is to provide a safe, supportive, confidential, and nurturing environment for people to move through their grief. Its sole purpose is to provide support to individuals, families and youth who are struggling with loss. Recently we established our first central facility, at 6409 1/2 Roosevelt Way N.E. in Seattle. In June 2006, we celebrated our new home with an open house for clients, friends and supporters.

The Healing Center provides some of our services, for no fee, and others on a sliding fee scale. No one is turned away due to an inability to pay. We welcome donations and grants from individuals, corporations and foundations. For more information, please contact us.

We invite you to view our video to learn more about our mission.

Take a moment to listen to our public service announcement that was broadcast in September, 2009.

Please save the date of October 17 for our annual “Starry Night” auction. The Healing Center’s largest fundraiser of the year, our “Starry Night” auction funds over half of our operating budget and enables us to provide most of our programs and services free of charge.  Click here to learn more...

Detlef Schrempf Celebrity Gala & Auction to benefit The Healing Center!

Saturday, June 19, at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation will host their annual gala and auction for our benefit! After months of interviews and a lengthy application process, The Healing Center was chosen as one of two charities to benefit from the proceeds of this event and we are honored to partner with this well connected and generous foundation. Founded in 1996 by Detlef Schrempf and his wife, Mari, the Detlef Schrempf Foundation is committed to supporting organizations that provide hope, care and assistance for children and families in the Northwest. To date the Foundation has raised more than $8 million dollars for children’s charities. We are looking forward to this amazing event in June and hope you are too!

It's the holiday season

The holiday season is a time of peace and happiness; a time of family gatherings, and a bond of closeness felt more strongly than at any other time of the year.  There are also very different emotions surfacing now for those of us who have experienced the death of a child, sibling or spouse...
