Potluck – Saturday, May 28, 6pm @THC

Posted on: Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Although Memorial Day was originally established to honor those who died in military service, it has become a day for all Americans to remember their loved ones.  And for many, it also marks the official start of Summer.  The Healing Center wants to take the occasion to do both: remember our loved ones and to gather as a community to celebrate the warmer months that we hope lay ahead.  We invite you and your family (and friends) to join us for our first official Memorial Day BBQ at The Healing Center on Saturday, May 28 at 6:00 PM.

We’re going to crank up the barbeque and grill some tasty beef burgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs and we invite you to complement these with whatever tasty side dish, dessert or beverage that feels summery to you.  In addition, we’ll have all of the necessary art supplies on-hand to create ceramic tiles to honor our loved ones that we hope to utilize in a group art piece that will be featured in the Detlef Schrempf Celebrity Auction and Gala benefiting The Healing Center and Rise n’Shine, on June 25.

We’ve also invited our auction partners, Rise n’Shine, and their families and friends to join us at this month’s potluck.  Rise n’Shine is has been providing emotional support programs, stability, advocacy, and AIDS education for children and teens affected by HIV/AIDS.  This includes children and teens who have been orphaned by the disease, children and teens who live with a parent or other close close family member with HIV/AIDS, and those who are infected themselves.  Check out their organization at www.risenshine.org.

Please RSVP to rebeccas@healingcenterseattle.org if you plan to attend so we can be fully stocked and ready to welcome you.  We hope to see you there!
